April 28, 2022 - Message from the Receiver
On December 21, 2021 – Joseph Hipp plead guilty to Count 1 of the Information (ECF 518) filed by the government on December 21, 2021. Included in the Information was the provision that Mr. Hipp voluntarily surrender funds in several financial accounts along with several pieces of real estate. The Receiver has successfully liquidated one property and is in the closing process for one more.
The guilty plea of Mr. Hipp means that only two Defendants remain to stand trial, Scott A. Kohn and Future Income Payments, LLC.
On January 13, 2022, the Judge Bruce H. Hendricks of the United States District Court of South Carolina issued a Text Order granting a Motion to Continue Jury Selection and Trial and Motion for Extension of Time to Hire Counsel filed by Scott A. Kohn. The previous trial date was canceled and currently there no new trial date set.
The Receiver’s staff continues to investigate, recover, control, and manage the information and assets that have been accumulated since April 2019.
The Receiver has filed over one hundred federal lawsuits pending against individuals and corporations. While some of the lawsuits have been settled, dozens remain contested. The Receiver continues to work toward resolution for all these matters.
